EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
What is adaptive riding?
Adaptive riding is a recreation based horsemanship experience designed with individualized adaptive strategies in mind. Participants will learn leading, horse handling, grooming, tacking, groundwork, riding, and other aspects of horse care. This program is tailored to each participant’s personal need and goals.
Do I need to have horse experience to ride with Freedom Reins?
Of course not! Freedom Reins caters to all ages and riding experience.
Do riders wear helmets? Are they provided or should I buy a helmet?
Yes, all riders are required to wear ASTM/SEI-compliant helmets. There are helmets available to borrow, but after the first month of lessons riders are required to provide their own approved helmet. (Exceptions apply to the Healing Hearts Program).
Can family and friends come watch?
Yes, but due to the nature of our services it is recommended to limit guests to close family or guardians. Please let us know in advance if you intend to bring outside guests.
Do you provide tuition assistance?

This program allows Freedom Reins to offer services on a sliding scale based on eligibility. Contact Freedom Reins to begin the application process!
Are lessons and programs provided in all weather conditions?
Yes, with the exception of extreme temperatures or storms. We will contact you in advance if your lesson or program is canceled due to weather.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo.
What is your cancellation policy?
Freedom Reins requires a 24-hour notice if you need to cancel a lesson or scheduled programs. Cancellations can be made via either a phone call or text message. Make-ups should be scheduled via your instructor and can be accommodated, depending on availability. We understand that things happen, however we ask that you do not cancel last-minute unless absolutely necessary. Cancellations within less than 24-hours of the lesson will be required to pay in full. If multiple cancelations occur, contact will be made to discuss a resolution.
What should you wear to your lesson?
Riders should wear long pants to prevent chaffing and closed toed boots (1-1.5 inch heel). This means that sandals, crocs, high heels, wedges, sneakers, and uggs are not permitted for students. Recommended pants include jeans, breeches, and cotton leggings. Please dress for the weather as our programs run in all seasons.
When should I arrive for my lesson or program session?
Please arrive 20-30 minutes before your lesson or 10 minutes for scheduled programs. This ensures enough time for grooming and tacking your horse.
